CONFLICT RESOLUTION WORKSHOP

In property management organizations today, the focus is on results:  finding better solutions faster.  To optimize performance, we must be able to quickly and effectively resolve issues, settle differences, and implement solutions on every level.  This session will focus on conflict resolution in a constructive and positive way.  The session will help you to:

• Become more aware of your own conflict style or “mode” and analyze your effectiveness in different situations
• Recognize the conflict style of others so you can respond in a more productive way
• Assess conflict situations and apply the most appropriate mode
• Practice using different conflict modes

Each participant will complete the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI) self-assessment tool in order to discover their personal conflict-handling style.  All of the 5 conflict-handling modes are useful and the assessment profile will not reveal anything negative about any participant.  Following a discussion of each of the conflict modes, the facilitator will walk participants through a number of scenarios that WAA members are likely to face in their jobs.  These simulations will provide participants with an opportunity to practice their skills in a supportive environment. 

The session will be facilitated by Helen M. Lombardo.  Helen has been involved in training and development activities since 1984, and has taught on-site life skills classes for employees of Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and others.  Helen is well known for the exciting, interactive learning experiences that she provides, and has a following in companies in which she offers courses.  Helen was awarded a Sears Courtesy Excellence Award and was involved in creating an in-house video for counselor selling at Sears Headquarters.  She holds a BA from WayneStateUniversity, Detroit, Michigan, with a concentration in English.
